Chris on Kieran:
Kieran, in my mind, is most aptly described as 'The Quiet Achiever'. For most of his life he has been in the middle of his two extrovert brothers, who are almost always vying for attention, often at loggerheads, sometimes stretching the boundaries of eccentricity and occasionally testing his patience. Somehow, Kieran manages to keep the entire operation running smoothly, all the while making sure his prima donnas are kept happy. Kieran has a reassuring calmness in his disposition that has possibly kept the band sane; in the insane world of rock 'n' roll. Problems seem to magically disappear when Kieran is in the driver's seat. Being one of the stronger songwriters in the band, it has been comforting to know that at any time a song requires a little 'special' something, I can rely on Kieran's lyric writing skills to turn a 'possible contender', into a 'that's one for the next record'! Kieran's drumming is an extension of his personality. Strong, consistent, dependable assertive but sensitive. If drums are the heartbeat of a band, we may never fear cardiac arrest.
Jason on Kieran:
The man is like Felix to my Oscar. If he's not telling me what to do, my house is messy, when to be onstage or to get my life in order, it just wouldn't be Kieran. Having said that, I love him to death, he is one of my fave peeps of all time and is genuinely the unsung talent of the band.
Shaun on Kieran:
Kieran is the man behind the Murphy's Lore machine. A talented bugger in all sorts of areas, who is outwardly very mature, but a middle child striving not to be pidgeon-holed inside. He is a definitive rock drummer… and I love it. I wish I could bottle the awesome grooves and vibes we've shared on stage. He keeps his brothers in check with the loving brutality that only a brother can muster, but when he's just chilling he's the perfect party companion. Full of ideas, ideals and a good few stubbies of wallop.
Courtney on Kieran:
Kieran is the timekeeper of the band in more ways than one, always diligently coralling the band back to the stage at the end of an extended break! Kieran is having to fill some very large shoes as far as hramonies are concerned after our good friend Clayton Bolger left the group, but he is proving himself with every gig that old dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Some beats tend to be creative depending on the number of pints he's consumed at a gig, but usually he's hard to fault with a metronome. Kieran, the second leader of the band.
Clayton on Kieran:
My first impressions of Kieran was that he was the ‘serious’ member of the band. This is true in some respects, for those of us who know him as The Time Nazi, and in some cases, The Decorum Nazi. I quickly learnt that he wasn’t shy about dropping the odd well-timed, sharp and witty comment. Once he came of age and was rapidly baptised in beer, his wilder, partier and heartier side would come out. There have been moments when I have turned towards the drum kit after hearing loud unintelligible shouts and laughter, sometimes followed by a broken (or not) drumstick flying across the stage. Then there was the bottle-balancing phase…but demeanour aside, Kieran is the heart of the band. Cursed with being such a rock and an incredible drummer, he can never take a night off. Whether Lore-abiding, or Jam Scouting, I love playing with Kieran. We can normally read each other well…we enjoy the good gigs, and try to lift the bad ones together. His love of music and the trivia within has provided us with much stimulated conversation and man-uppery. He’s my brother on stage, my brother in arms.
