Home Jason Smith

Kieran on Jason:

Jason and I are polar opposites. There is actually no earthly reason why Jase and I should get along at all, as we drive each other insane, but we do get along very well. We've got a similar sense of humour, and he's got a really big heart. His big heart actually gets him out of a lot of trouble with me... he's scatterbrained and untidy, but his amazing guitar playing and technical knowledge are his saving graces. Everyone who knows Jason, knows why they love him. Some people are still struggling to work him out.

Chris on Jason:

In a normal world, Jason would drive me so crazy, it wouldn't be possible for me to be friends with him. But fortunately we don't live in a normal world. Jason hardly answers his phone, is rarely on time and never returns your calls, but he is also the sweetest, most affable gentleman you'll ever meet. What's his is yours (and consequently, what's yours is his!) and is often blissfully unaware as to who currently has possession of any of his guitars! Working as hard as he plays, makes for a tired Jason and you will often find him, guitar strapped on, trading sips from a red bull can and a glass of Chardonnay. Jason cannot be killed by conventional weapons. Jason Smith constantly amazes me with the depth of his musical talent. A better guitarist, I have never seen.

Shaun on Jason:

Jason Smith… oh Jason Smith. We share the special bond that only a select handful of musicians can claim as their own. We have had the honour and the insanity to share the stage and our lives with the Murphy boys. I swear I don't know how or where they find us, but they do. Jason is the guitarist that I'd love to be. He's such a soulful, groovy, funky, passionate player and it's just a joy to have him take the tunes where they need to go depending on the night. He gives every beat of music the utmost attention, but knows how to use space. Ok I'm rambling. He's very compassionate, but has the gift of knowing not to take things too seriously. Welcome to the mad journey mate!! Let me know how you're keeping up after 6 years.

Courtney on Jason:

Jason is a guitar genius, but most of the time he just smells funny. Jason does things on a guitar that make me shake my head and want to abandon music altogether, but most of the time he just smells funny. Whenever we go away somewhere, Jason and I do everything within our collective powers to avoid sharing a room, mainly because he smells funny. As long as we can manage the volume of the loudest bastard you've ever come across, he will continue to be an integral part of the band. Oh yeah, and he smells funny.

Clayton on Jason:

A sweet man with a cheeky grin, Jason is one of the most incredible guitar players I’ve had the pleasure of hearing.  He may be loud, but there haven’t been many gigs where I haven’t looked at him full of shock and awe.  He’s a noodler.  He’s a wailer.  He’s a riffer.  He’s bonafide.  Like me, he’s a Simpsons fanatic, so he’s great to swap quotes with…although his dalliances with Family Guy and Futurama may be cause for worry.   It’s fab sharing the stage with Jase.  He’s easy to interact with, rock out with and chill-it-out with…as long as he gets his way.  Keep on riffin’, good buddy.
